SIMATIC powerrate licensing
Introduction
SIMATIC powerrate is licensed for each PCS 7 OS, WinCC server or single-user station.
The licensing is independent of the number of automation systems or S7 CPUs you use.
License key of SIMATIC powerrate V4.0
In order to work with SIMATIC powerrate, you need to transfer the license key from the
license key USB stick to the computers used: On the PCS 7 OS, the WinCC server or the

If no suitable license key is installed on your computer, a message appears during the
installation of SIMATIC powerrate.
Note
Calculation of the PowerTags
The tags automatically created by SIMATIC
powerr ate in WinCC are
not
considered to be
PowerTags.
On the other hand, raw data tags and tags for SENTRON libraries are considered to be
PowerTags.
Procedure
Select the desired procedure:
Installation of the license key at setup
Installation of the license key with "Automation License Manager"
If you are unable to install the license key during setup, continue the setup without installing
the license key.
You can then install the license key later using the Automation License Manager.
Trial license
To activate the trial license, run the "PRE_RUN.exe" program in the "Trial_License" folder.
The trial license is valid for 30 days after activation.

General notes on SIMATIC powerrate
Signal type "count pulse" for the PRE_SUM/ PR3_SUM block
Use the PRE_BIN_ACQ/ PR3_BIN_AQC block to record count pulses.
Named Connections: Communication between WinCC and S7-300
The raw communication "BSEND/BRCV" from WinCC to S7-300 via the Named Connections
is supported by SIMATIC powerrate.
WinCC with screen configuration without Basic Process Control
You can also use SIMATIC powerrate on a computer on which the screen configuration is
set up without Basic Process Control.
However, you make the basic settings for the message system on a computer with the OS
Project Editor, which is included as a component in Basic Process Control.
Using CFC together with S7-300
Due to the system, when CFC is used for the "PR3_AR_DATA_B", "PR3_UA_R" and
"PR3_UA_S" blocks, two communication resources are reserved for each of these even if
only one communication channel is used. Take this into consideration when selecting the
CPU.
Block library of SIMATIC powerrate V4. 0 SP2
The AWL and SCL sources of the "PRE_AR_DATA", "PR3_AR_D AT A_ B" and
"PR3_AR_DATA" blocks are no longer migrated in the block library of
SIMATIC powerrate V4.0 SP2.
PROFIenergy blocks of the powerrate library
Changes in the energy acquisition with PROFIenergy by an I‐device (PRx_PE_IDEV):
S7-400
The "PRE_PE_IDEV" block is no longer available, because the "SFB73" and "SFB74"
blocks are not supported.
S7‐300/ S7‐400
As of WinCC V7.2, the new "PR3_PE_IDEV" blocks with the new interface time stamp
are used.

Use of the IM151-8 CPU
The example program for S7-300 cannot be downloaded to the IM151-8 PN/DP CPU due to
memory requirements.
Note
Memory requirements of AS blocks
You can find the memory requirements of the AS blocks in the respective manual for
SIMATIC power rat e V4.0 S P2 with PC S
7 or WinCC.
Load management: Adhere to the order for configuring limit violations
To supply the messages with the correct, up-to-date associated values for load
management, pay attention to the data flow of load management in the implementation.
Program the blocks in the correct order of execution.
The "PRE_LMGM" block is called after the "PRE_SUM" or "PR3_SUM" block.
If the blocks are installed in different cyclic interrupt OBs (organization blocks), make sure
that at least one of the two conditions is met:
You must install " PRE_ SUM" or "PR3_SUM" in the same cyclic interrupt OB as
"PRE_LMGM".
"You must install PRE_SYNC" or "PR3_SYNC" directly before "PRE_SUM" or
"PR3_SUM" in the same cyclic interrupt OB.
Note
Basics of configuration
Read the detai led infor ma ti on in secti on 2.1 "Bas
ic Configuration" of the Programming and
Operating Manual for SIMATIC powerrate V4.0 SP2 with PCS
7 or WinCC.
Enabling VBA macros for powerrate Reports
You need active VBA macro language support for powerrate Report Tool.
If you install only Micr osoft O ff ice Excel 2010 , enable in addition the following option:
Office Shared Features/Visual Basic For Applications.
If Microsoft Office 2010 is already installed without VBA macros and you open the
PRE_Reports_xlt file template, confirm the prompt to install the VBA macros
retrospectively with "Yes".
If you start the Report Tool without opening the PRE_Reports.xlt, no error message is
displayed and the R ep ort T ool is not init ializ e d
Using Web View Publisher
For performance reasons, we recommend that you only publish the process pictures and
Faceplates which are currently needed.

Notes on powerrate Reports
Note
Reporting Tool does not support Unicode characters
The use of Unicode characters, e.g. Chinese, in the S7 project (S7 program name, DB
name, etc.) may c
ause problems in the Reporting Tool with regard to the selection of
process values/archive tags.
You should therefore refrain from using Unicode characters.
Starting Excel when creating powerrate reports
Microsoft Excel may not start when you create powerrate reports.
Solution:
1. Close the powerrate reports.
2. Start Micros oft Exc el.
Reading archive tags with powerrate Reports
Export manual values as quickly as possible after they have been read. Values that are
entered after the report period are not taken into account.
To accurately calculate the aggregated values, the start time has to be a multiple of the
archiving cycle.
We only recommend the use of aggregated values when it can be ensured that WinCC
Runtime will not be terminated during the report period. Otherwise the aggregated values
may be inaccurate.
If the backup function is activated in Tag Logging, only values that are stored in the active
segment of the short-term archive and are not marked as relevant for long term can be
modified in the MAI NTENANCE view.
For the latest information go to "Product Support" in the Internet.
Querying WinCC with OPC
The OPC interface is based on Microsoft Windows COM (Component Object Model) and
DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) technology.
OPC uses the DCOM port or port 135 to query the WinCC status.
